Structure is an iOS application designed to help parents bring clarity, anticipation, and reflection into their family holidays. Traveling with children can be exciting, but also unpredictable. Structure introduces a simple and intuitive way to plan daily activities, helping children understand what to expect and giving them something meaningful to look forward to each day.

By creating a clear rhythm during holidays, Structure supports children in feeling more engaged and secure, while allowing parents to organize activities without complexity. Each day becomes more than just a sequence of events — it becomes a shared experience with intention.

In addition to planning, Structure emphasizes reflection. At the end of the day, parents and children can look back together, discuss what they experienced, and highlight their favorite moments. This process strengthens emotional connection and helps transform everyday holiday experiences into lasting memories.

Structure was recognized for its innovation and design by winning the Apple Swift Student Challenge 2024, highlighting its thoughtful user experience, technical implementation, and meaningful impact.

Family holidays often lack a clear rhythm for children, which can lead to uncertainty, overstimulation, or disengagement. While many travel apps focus on logistics such as booking or navigation, few address the emotional and experiential aspect of traveling with children.

Parents needed a simple tool to create structure during holidays without adding complexity to their planning. At the same time, the experience had to remain accessible and engaging for children, while encouraging reflection and shared conversation.

The challenge was to design an app that balances simplicity and emotional value, while leveraging native iOS technologies to create a seamless and delightful experience.

Structure was developed as a native iOS application using Swift and SwiftUI, prioritizing clarity, accessibility, and emotional engagement. The app allows parents to plan daily activities in a clear and visual format, helping children understand and anticipate each day.

The interface was designed to be calm, intuitive, and distraction-free, ensuring that the focus remains on the experience rather than the tool itself. Using native state management and AppStorage, Structure provides a lightweight and responsive experience without requiring accounts or external dependencies.

Reflection is a core part of the solution. By encouraging families to review each day together, the app strengthens emotional engagement and transforms holidays into shared narratives rather than isolated moments.

The app also demonstrates strong integration with the Apple ecosystem, leveraging modern SwiftUI patterns and design principles to deliver a polished, award-winning user experience.

Structure successfully demonstrates how technology can enhance emotional connection and shared experiences during family travel. The app provides parents with a simple way to introduce structure, while helping children feel engaged and involved throughout the holiday.
